Public Transport can be stressful. With frequent strikes, congested roads and many train services running over comfortable capacity, disgruntled passengers are taking to social media to let their feelings be known.
Based on Twitter volume and sentiment data from January 1st, 2018 to February 1st, 2019, Satsuma can reveal which public transport operators in the UK are doing the best job of getting Britain from A to B.
View the interactive table below to discover how your experiences compare to other public transport commuters in your area and which public transport operators across the UK leave commuters the happiest, angriest and more.
Data sourced from Twitter via Crimson Hexagon – one of the world’s most powerful social media monitoring tools that uses artificial intelligence to categorise tweets based on sentiment and emotion.
Data was crawled by Satsuma Loans from the 1st of January 2018 to the 1st of February 2019.
Every known UK bus and train operator’s social media service handles were crawled to analyse for volume, sentiment and emotion. Where volume of tweets was very low (less than 100 tweets over the past year) these bus and train services were not included for accuracy of results.
Regions have been attributed to bus companies but not train companies. The logic behind this was that bus services are confined within definable regions, whereas train services run the length and breadth of the UK; meaning it is unreliable to attribute a given company to a particular region.
